Game Watch

Nearly 85 alumni from WVU and the College of Human Resources and Education and current WVU students attended a game watch, sponsored by the College of HR&E Alumni Association and the WVU Young Alumni Association, on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 to reunite with friends and cheer on the Mountaineers Men’s basketball team as they played Notre Dame for the second time. Despite the loss, everyone enjoyed great food, giveaways, and visiting with friends while watching WVU on the big screen at Chic ‘N Bones Rhythm Cafe.

Alumni Holiday Reception 2011

The College of Human Resources and Education and its alumni celebrated the holidays on Thursday, December 8th from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm with a reception in the Gold Room at Lyons Tower. More than 95 HR&E alumni, College faculty, retired faculty, staff, HR&E Alumni Association Board Members, and College Visiting Committee members gathered together to enjoy homemade holiday treats from HR&E alumni and appetizers from WVU catering. A surprise visit from West Virginia Public Theatre’s Seussical cast provided everyone a chance to sing-a-long to Christmas carols.

HR&E alumnus mentors teacher ed students on how to interview with success.
Monongalia County School Superintendent and two-time recipient of the West Virginia Superintendent of the Year Award, Dr. Frank Devano, shared important advice and information regarding the job application and interview process with teacher education students in Matt Anderson’s C & I 680 class, Technology Integration & Capstone Experience.

The event was part of Matt Anderson’s C&I 680 class, Technology Integration & Capstone Experience.

The West Virginia University College of Human Resources and Education welcomed back alumni of the former Division of Family and Consumer Sciences for a reunion on October 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Erickson Alumni Center.

Alumni Hospitality Tent Party 2011

More than 200 alumni and friends stopped by the College ofHuman Resources and Education football hospitality tent on Saturday, September 24th, prior to the LSU vs. WVU football game. The rain gave way tosunshine just in time for the all festivities to begin. HR&E’s faculty band, “The Pass Fail Band,” played while everyone enjoyed great foodfrom Archie’s Lakehouse and listened for the winning numbers to be called duringthe door prize giveaways. Prizes included a $125.00 giftcertificate from Willow Day Spa, WVU socks, a WVU beach ball and swimmies fromCountry Elegance at the Morgantown Mall, a WVU helmet pillow from MountaineerZone, a WVU gold Women’s polo shirt from Mountaineer Corner, and many more items. Manyfaculty members also were in attendance, as well as board members from the HR&EAlumni Association, the College’s Visiting Committee, and the HR&E StudentAdvisory Board. All were actively reconnecting with alumni, former colleagues and friends. Let’s Go Mountaineers!

Alumni Family & Friends Reunion Picnic 2011

More than 20 alumni families attended the College of Human Resources and Education Alumni Family & Friends Reunion at Krepps Park on Sunday, June 5, 2011. This event was sponsored by the College of HR&E Alumni Association and the WVU Nursery School. In addition to the tasty lunch from Chick-Fil-A and door prize giveaways, several fun activities were run by WVU Nursery School college students, including carnival type games plus NASA rocket building and launching. Choosy, WVU’s Choosy Kids Club ambassador, was also on hand to lead both kids and adults in some upbeat musical exercises, and HR&E alumna Shannon Bennett Campbell performed her ventriloquist act. Campbell and her puppet, Anderson, sang songs and talked to alumni and their families.

Alumni Spring Dinner 2011

On April 26, 2011, more than 30 members of the College of Human Resources and Education Alumni Association gathered in the community room at the Mountaineer Mall for their annual spring dinner meeting. This year, the following members were voted onto the Association’s Board of Directors: Kaye McCrory, President; John Myers, Vice President; Michelle Stellato, Treasurer; Joy Myers, Secretary; and Teresa Eagle, George McCrum, and Laurel Beatty as Directors-at-large. In addition, new bylaws were voted on, and all new amendments to the bylaws were passed unanimously. One of these new amendments reinstated association dues. All members that were present at the alumni dinner meeting voted in favor of reinstating the dues to ensure that the association remains a viable resource to alumni of the College.
